Lakes International Language Academy

* For the fifth consecutive year, Lakes International received the state School Finance Award from the Minnesota Department of Education.
    *Lakes International has received a clean audit each year from independent auditors
    *LILA manages a balanced budget of over $4M annually.

OTHER HONORS
  *LILA earned a 2011 National Promising Practices Award from the Character Education Partnership at a forum in San Fransisco.
  *LILA also garnered national recognition as a Finalist for the National School of Character Award in 2011.
  *LILA was recognized as a 2010 National School of Character “Profiles in Character” award winner by the Character Education Partnership of Washington, D.C.  Only 18 schools across the United States were selected for the honor, which is based on an evaluation of each school’s strengths in areas such as social-emotional learning or meeting individual student needs within the CEP’s Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education.

LILA'S School Report Card

GREEN SCHOOL

    *LILA implemented a food waste recycling program in February 2011. Cafeteria food waste is picked up weekly and delivered to farms as pig nutrition.
    *LILA applied a Washington County recycling grant to the purchase of a dishwasher and made a switch to reusable lunch trays in spring 2011.
    *LILA facilities maintenance retrofitted the whole school with energy efficient lighting.
    *Whole building paper and cardboard recycling programs are ongoing.
    *LILA has moved to electronic communications systems in place of paper mailings to families and students.

TECHNOLOGICALLY-READY
    *Wi-Fi access throughout the school
    *Promethean interactive white boards in each classroom

    *One stationary computer lab outfitted with large-screen iMacs

FACILITIES
* In July 2009 completed three new classrooms in the west wing.
* In July 2009 completed an expansion of the Cafeteria.
* In October 2008 finished construction of a New Media Center and Computer Lab.
* In August 2006 Finished 14 classrooms and gymnasium.
* In June 2006 completed an expansion of the cafetaria.
* In June 2005 remodeled the second grade classrooms and added the cafeteria staircase between levels.
* In February 2004 remodeled the old hospital rooms into eight classrooms and small multipurpose space.
