Lakes International was founded
on a rich tradition of great staff and parent involvement.
In the years leading up to September 2004, a group of parent vounteers
worked to organize the idea of a Spanish Immersion school in the
Northwest Suburbs of the Twin Cities, MN. After receiving state
approval to open as a charter school, they spent the several months
learning about charter schools and our community, taking part in
conferences, schmoozing, and gathering more families to our group. With
over 100 interested families, and more than 200 children, Lakes
International opened its doors to the Forest Lake Area community in
September 2004.
Now, with nearly 600 students and nearly 100 staff, Lakes International
has become a symbol of excellence. The numerous
achievements, both Academic,
Professional, and Financial, have put Lakes International near the top
of the pack. Culminating in the PYP Authorization in
the Spring of 2008, Lakes International continues to inspire, grow, and
create a better world around itself.
